Quick Trigger Country

2017-2018

These works gently poke fun at Western tropes and narratives surrounding the Western male hero - specifically, the cowboy and the soldier.

By breaking apart the hyper-masculine imagery of vintage pulp fiction cover art, rendering pop iconography in the antiquated medium of silverpoint, and by pitting the cowboy and the soldier against one another in a visual space, I wanted to toe the line between humor and reverence in these works.
